Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. We know what's "good for us", we…
What will you do when there is a set back?
This morning after our session was over we were talking about what you might do if (when) you have a set back.
A set back could mean getting injured, like a pulled back muscle or a sore shoulder. Perhaps even more serious like getting into a car accident or being diagnosed with a disease. A set back could also mean experiencing extreme stress or major decrease of time for yourself as when you have to care for a sick or elderly family member.
Martin Luther King, Jr. is quoted as saying “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward” and while I don’t know the context of this quote, I thought it relevant to our group.
Inevitably, at some point in your life you will have a set back. It’s not a matter of “if”, it is a “when”, so I thought it important to remember and think about this BEFORE a set back occurs.
There is almost always something you can do to move your body and keep yourself moving forward.
A client shared with us how that she and her husband’s physical therapist moved his legs when he couldn’t do it for himself! What an act of love demonstrated!
Another client shared how she learned from her grandmother at a young age to use her mind to help her body heal and she is always able to focus on what she CAN do versus what she cannot do.
So many of my clients come in with an on-going ache or pain and they are eager to do something, anything, that keeps them moving forward towards their goals. They are my inspiration!
Be determined now so that when a set back occurs, you’ll be ready to have the mindset of “what can I do to move forward?”
