Protein is having a moment—and for good reason. It plays a critical role in how…
No-Sugar 2 weeks “experiment”
Two weeks ago my clients and I challenged ourselves to Not eat any sugar, including artificial (of course!), stevia, honey, maple syrup…any added sweetness. Fruit was a-okay!
We were also to add in greens and veggies and eat protein with every meal…. and, how could I forget, No alcohol!
We did this for 5 days, Monday – Friday.
I felt so good and after having only a couple treats over the weekend, I wanted to go for it again the next week and invited all of my clients to do the same.
Here are the TWO BIGGEST DISCOVERIES my clients made during our little experiment:
- Mindset was everything! Week one everyone was mentally prepared for this challenge. We had been discussing it and there was some lead up time. However, when I popped it on them to go for a second week, there were a lot of “fails.” They certainly were not “fails” in my mind because I think every time they mindful of what they were eating was a WIN and every time they didn’t eat sugar was a huge WIN!
2. There is sugar in things you wouldn’t suspect. When you start reading labels, you’ll notice that sugar and other additives are in products that you would never suspect!
For instance, some ladies discovered that their favorite peanut butter and salad dressings had added sugar . Why do food manufacturers add sugar to these food items? People have a taste for sugar and it sells more product. Food manufacturers are not out there to help you be healthy, they are out there to make money and they will put ingredients in that sell the most.
Have you challenged yourself to stop eating sugar?
If not, I recommend that you try it!
You will notice more mental clarity, more energy, less bloating, your joints may stop aching and you’ll sleep better!
