Thanksgiving without guilt: a balanced approach

Dear {{ subscriber.first_name }},

Tomorrow is the big day, and I want to help you enjoy it guilt-free while staying mindful of your health and fitness goals.

Thanksgiving is about gratitude, family, and yes, great food—and there’s no reason you can’t celebrate while maintaining balance.

Here are some practical tips to help you make the most of the holiday without derailing your progress:

1. Start Your Day with Movement

Kick off Thanksgiving with some intentional activity! Whether it’s a morning walk, a quick workout, or even a family Turkey Trot, starting the day with movement will help boost your energy, metabolism, and mood.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be intense—just getting your body moving will set a positive tone for the day.

2. Balance Your Plate

When it’s time to dig into that Thanksgiving feast, aim for balance:

  • Fill half your plate with veggies: Roasted Brussels sprouts, green beans, or a salad are great options.
  • Add lean protein: Turkey is the star of the show, so make it count!
  • Go easy on the starchy sides: You don’t have to skip them, but aim for smaller portions of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and rolls.
  • Save room for dessert: If you want the pumpkin pie, enjoy it! Just keep the portion reasonable and savor every bite.

3. Stay Hydrated

Between the rich food and celebratory drinks, it’s easy to get dehydrated. Keep water handy throughout the day to stay refreshed and avoid mistaking thirst for hunger.

4. Practice Gratitude

Take a moment to reflect on everything you’ve  accomplished this year—both big and small. I always start my day with a list of what I’m grateful for.  Gratitude can help shift your focus away from perfection and onto progress, making it easier to enjoy the holiday without guilt.
