She wants to be in great shape, BUT…

I recently watched an Q&A where the woman asked “how can I get into great shape again?” and then proceeded to add: I don’t have time because I have a full time job so I’m not getting up at 5:30 and then I have too many other things to do at night so I can’t exercise then.

The host gave a great answer: Add small exercise “snacks” throughout your day, like 10 squats after you eat lunch.

Her answer: “I can’t squat.”

My thoughts:

First, she really does need to switch her mindset to “what CAN I do?”

Second, her response was not unlike most American adults because everyone I know is busy and short on time. Many think they are incapable do doing certain physical things like squats, but she was wrong!

When the trainer told her to sit at her desk and stand up, do that 10 times – you just did 10 squats, a little light bulb went on and a glimmer of hope sparked.

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time of your life to start exercising – when you have more time, when your knees don’t hurt, when you have more energy – it’s not coming. Therefore, the perfect time is NOW.

Start where you are at and progress. If that means 10 sit to stands at your office desk or holding onto your bathroom sink then that’s where you start.

You can’t stay there forever, but you can certainly start there!

If you are hesitant to “join a gym” because you don’t want to look foolish, afraid your going to hurt yourself or have no idea what to do when you get there AND you want to be in the best shape of your life so you can have energy and strength to do the things you love to do, I have a special BEGINNER’S CLASS starting on August 18. It’s four weeks and we will take things slow and easy. You won’t get lost in the shuffle.
