You can’t have white potatoes

You can’t have white potatoes! Or maybe you can…

Sometimes we can get hung up on details that don’t really have a big impact.

Take the potato issue. Should you eat sweet or white if you want to lose weight?

Everything you read says that you must switch to sweet potatoes if you want to lose weight, but do you really have to cut out the white baked potato?

The good news is that you don’t have to give up baked white potatoes unless they don’t agree with your gut.

Here are some points to remember:

  1. Both styles of potato are considered a starch and you MUST measure your starches and eat them at the appropriate time of the day (breakfast or after your workout)
  2. Sweet potatoes bright orange color remind us that they have lots of nutrients that white potatoes don’t have. They are loaded with anti-oxidants that help kill off free radicals which cause aging and cellular degradation.
  3. Both are nightshades and should be avoided by people with autoimmune conditions.
  4. A serving is 4 oz. Weigh it on a food scale.

Don’t get hung up on the details, especially if you have 20 or more pounds to lose.
