If your story isn’t right…it doesn’t matter what strategies you use.

I love sharing strategies to help women become healthy, fit and strong!

Using strategies make you focus on the behavior or action steps rather than pure will power to do the things that you know are ultimately going to help you reach your goals.

For instance, I use the strategy of writing my appointments and reminders, with alerts, in my phone so I don’t forget important things. Some people rely on their ability to remember, but that bogs down my brain and I’m not creative and present when I have to remember every appointment or thing I need to do.

Maybe you keep your dental floss right next to your toothbrush so you remember to floss…this Is a strategy that will get you to floss daily and have healthy teeth, gums and heart and you don’t have to put much effort into it because it’s right there in front of you, next to something you already do every day.

But what happens when your story isn’t right or doesn’t match up with what you say you want.

For example, let’s say you want to floss twice daily because you know you’ll have pearly whites, a prettier smile and be confident enough to finally ask for that raise you deserve at work.

BUT, what if the story you tell yourself is “I have ugly teeth and I’ll never get ahead at my job because of my teeth.”

With a story like that, a deep belief that you’ll never get ahead because of your teeth, you might floss for a little while, but you can glue that sucker to the back of your toothbrush and you’ll still forget to floss!

You have to change your stories in order for your strategies to work.

“I’ll always be fat.”

“It’s hard.”

“I don’t deserve to be fit and healthy.”

“I’m not meant to be lean, just look at my family.”

These are all stories deep seated beliefs that women tell themselves.

These stories are holding you back and NO STRATEGY can un-do them.

Tony Robbins says the first step in changing your story is to STOP telling yourself things that disempower you.

Things like:

  • I need to be perfect
  • I have it worse than everyone else
  • If I ignore it, it will go away
  • I’m too old, too young, not experienced enough, too fat, too skinny, too stupid, etc.
  • I’m just not a happy person
