Build a better habit

Being fit or healthy or spiritual or having a great marriage or having wealth is about your daily habits.

For example, eating (a healthy) breakfast every day is a habit that women who are of healthy weight practice. They rarely miss breakfast and rarely indulge in cereal, pancakes, cinnamon buns, etc.

James Clear, author of Atomic Habits says “One of the most effective things you can do to build better habits is to join a culture where your desired behavior is the normal behavior.

New habits seem achievable when you see others doing them every day.”

Similarly, motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said: ” We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.”

So, who do you hang around with?

At Her Fitness, we do a Win Share – each week we share something we did, accomplished, or worked on.

The habit of remembering (and stating) our WINS does at least two things:

1. It gives the owner of the Win evidence that she can really do X, Y or Z.

2. It gives the rest of us evidence and inspiration that “if she can do, I can do it, too”…we are building a habit of hanging around people who have a behavior that we desire.

What are your habits that are holding you back or helping you?
